Use your busiest recurring school day
Assess the subjects and activities that create your largest normal combination of belongings. A bag needs to fit that combination without relying on a hypothetical maximum that rarely occurs. Check how books and other rigid items use the interior, since their shape can matter more than the difference of a few nominal liters.
Storage volume does not establish protection
The school designation does not prove a dedicated laptop compartment or any particular protective construction. Verify device storage if you need it, and inspect the harness with the load you expect to carry.
